EXHIBITION “IN THE SIGN OF INGRES. LUIGI MUSSINI AND THE ACADEMY IN EUROPE IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY”

Siena, 2007

The exhibition “In the sign of Ingres”, curated by Carlo Sisi and Ettore Spalletti, took place in the Santa Maria della Scala complex in Siena from 6 October 2007 to 06 January 2008.

It was the first time the entire collection of Luigi Mussini, a Sienese artist active in the second half of the nineteenth century, was shown. Mussini worked in the context of European Purism and his stile was always linked to the artistic genius of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres.
